I know they may not necessarily be "pickles", but I saw these at the Saman market and had to give them a try. I had the BEST sour cherries in Door County WI several summers ago and I was hoping these would be somewhere close.

I have to say- while not as nice and fresh as the ones we had right off the trees, these are really good!

No marachino cherries here- no colors or flavors have been added. Just cherries, water and sugar.

They actually taste like cherry pie filling, but there is no goopy sauce.




I think these would be great with ice cream, but I've just been snacking on the from the jar
At the restaurant down the street from us, they mix these into cooked Basmati rice which is also very good.
